How does this work ?

  • We first discuss the items you have for sale via email, phone or in person.
The more information/history/technical specs or data the better your item will sell.
  • Possession of the item (s) is agreed upon for the duration of the auction.
I can hold your item or you can retain possession of it.
  • From there we meet for a photo shoot and further information gathering.
  • Next I create a professional advertisement for your item.
  • Your auctions are then listed for a 10 day run, including 2 weekends for optimum viewing.
Auction duration can also be 1,3,5 or 7 if 10 is to long.
  • During the 10 day (or any other duration) run, I will field all questions that may arise.
I may need to contact you if additional information is required.
  • Once your item is sold I collect the payment from the buyer.
  • I next arrange a meeting with you and exchange the payment for the sold item.
  • I then ship the item to the buyer.

These guidelines are geared for the individual who has a set amount of items for sale. For those individuals who wish to have me sell items on a regular basis or if you are interested in the inner workings of eBay and wish to develop a strategy for your items, this is also an option so by all means inquire! I do not operate within a canned environment! The process can be simple  or as in-depth as you wish!

What services do you provide?

  • The first service I provide is a professional set of digital photographs depicting your item. These photos are taken with a 6.0 Mega pixel camera at a resolution of 1600 x 1200 so when reduced to viewable size they will be crisp, detailed and vivid. A picture is worth a thousand words and this is especially true when selling on eBay!
  • Second is a professionally written and designed advertisement page including all necessary photo documentation which in turn becomes your auction page. (content dependant on style of auction)
  • I will host all the pictures on my personal web servers and field all email pertaining to the auction.
  • I will provide you with a detailed MS Excel spread sheet which will show you all the information pertaining to your auction.  This spread sheet will be emailed to you after all auctions have been listed and then again after the close of all auctions for the final updating. Your spread sheet will have both non active and active links so you have the option of clicking on your item link allowing your auction page to appear with current status! This status will also be available for 30 days after the close of your auction.
  • I offer the following payment methods for your buyers: credit cards, paypal, western union, money orders, cashiers check, cash, international wire transfers and bank to bank payment transfers. Since I can accommodate European buyers your auction has a greater potential of selling over auctions that are only listed within the US.
  • I have over 20+ years of global shipping experience and have accounts with the USPS, UPS and FedEx allowing your buyers added flexibility when it comes to shipping methods. All auctions are professionally packaged to arrive at their destination intact and on time.

How much does it cost?

  • Ebay has a set amount of fees that all sellers must pay to sell on eBay.
  • Auction Listing fee: $0.20 - $4.80 depending on the starting bid price of your auction.
  • Auction Final value fee: 5 1/4% of the initial $25.00 and 3.25% of the remaining balance.
  • If accepting credit cards, 2.2% - 2.9 % depending on whether its a domestic or international charge. (You can opt out of accepting CC to save on the % however you will run the risk of reducing the amount of potential buyers)
  • There are other fees for various enhanced selling options which can be added ala cart if you wish.
  • You are responsible for these fees and they are deducted from the amount of your auction sale. Even if the auction closes without any sales you are still responsible for the assessed fees.
  • I do not inflate eBay fees, I pass them along to you as you would be charged if you were selling the item yourself.
Click here for 2008 Ebay fees.
  • There are no shipping costs that pertain to you. Shipping is paid for by the buyer.
  • In actuality the only added expense you incur is my commission.
My commission is negotiable based on item (s) qty. value and whether or not surface preparation must be conducted. I also accept merchandise or service trades for my services. The barter system is alive and well!
  • For Auto, Boat & RV listings, prices are a flat rate and vary per situation.

Why hire someone, cant I do this myself!

  • Everyone can sell on eBay. The question is, do you have the time, expertise and resources available to actually do it?
  • Are you skilled in the art of written advertising copy ?
  • Do you posses a digital camera and the knowledge to take and edit quality photos.
  • Do you have a website or server space to host your photos?
  • Do you feel comfortable with placing your bank account and credit cards on line for automatic billing or money transfer?
  • Are you knowledgeable with online payment services and options to offer your customers?
  • Are you set up to take credit card payments?
  • Do you have the knowledge to process international orders?
  • Do you have USPS, UPS and or FedEx accounts set up for shipping?
  • Do you have a long drive to any of the above listed facilities and the time to wait in line to ship your auctions?
  • Are you skilled in the proper methods of packaging to insure your shipment arrives safe and sound?
  • Do you have the patience to fill out customs forms and commercial export declarations on high value items being shipped out of country?
  • Are you willing to log into your PC every day and answer emails about your auctions? Customer service = bids = sales!

Why re invent the wheel? My commission covers all the areas listed above and more. I have been selling since 1998 and have gathered the trust and clientele on a world wide scale. Many of my customers are constant repeat buyers. I have sold everything from Large comic book collections to old Tonka Toy collections to back yard furniture and recording studio gear. Expensive vintage guitars, doll collections, WWII stamps and Hugo Boss suites. Yes, anyone is capable of selling on eBay, but do you have the skills to extract the highest amount of $$ for your item and for the most part, do you have the time to dedicate? What are the benefits of hiring you?

Well, aside from all the information listed above, here are a few more points to consider.

  • My services are professional, creative and geared to extract the highest return possible for your items. Your account is never
handled by a store clerk or non motivated hired employee. You are not a number, you are a unique customer who has my full attention.
  • When you contact me for information you will be answered by me with the information you require. You will not get the run around with a store clerk that doesn't know who you are or what you have left in their possession to sell.
  • You will never be processed by a robot and put into a mold for selling your items. I tailor each customers item so it has its own identity and unique presence as it is presented to the global online community.
  • If you look at the other "eBay stores" that sell peoples items, you will see so much advertising and images and forms all geared for the store, and not much about your item. You will find just the opposite with me. Your entire add is for you, not me!
  • Flexibility. Basically non existent with eBay stores who can not spend the time with you one on one or alter their selling policies. The reason they can not is most are a franchise  and have to pay monthly royalty fees along with store front fees, employees fees and a host of other fees every month. We are flexible and not governed by store criteria, therefore allowing us the freedom to interact with you as much as you require.
  • Strategy. We will work out a strategy based on my years and experience to sell your items. You will be presented with a multitude of options, you will never be forced into any method of sale that you do not 100% agree to.

Apple to orange comparison!

Newspaper vs. eBay
A newspaper only gives you a limited demographic area to sell in. A limited amount of people in that area read want ads and even less are interested in your item. eBay puts the interest of a global community (millions strong) all looking for your item, at their finger tips! Why set a price for the newspaper when you can sell for more through the bidding process! Why answer phone calls and have to set up appointments for buyers to come to your private home to see what you have for sale? Why spend the money for such limitations and inconvenience?

Garage sales vs. eBay
Not much to say here! Keep the low value items for your weekend sale and get big bucks for the rest of your items
on eBay! Feel free to contact me if you have trouble deciding what to keep for the garage sale verse what to sell on eBay.

When making a choice to hire an eBay seller, make sure you check the history of their sold items. You will notice that many sellers have thousands of eBay feedbacks selling $1.99 books and other countless low value items. Quantity definitely does not = Quality, when looking at eBay scores. You want to hire a person who is skilled with items of value, not garage sale items! After all, how much money are you going to make if I sell your item for $2.00? Another note to consider about the eBay selling Franchise stores who show large feedback scores in the tens of thousands; the score is the total sum from ALL the stores from around the country, not just the local store! Easy to notice, look at the "location" in the auction and you will see in many cases it is not the same location of the store your looking at!
All in all, your item has a perfect chance of selling regardless of who you commission. Simple point, if you want the most amount of money for your item, then hire a person with the proven track record of quality sales...Hire "L-Bay"
